The picture I loaded is me here with two of the State Representatives who are sponsoring legislation to have a moratorium on fracturing and have full disclosure of fracturing chemicals. I believe there were about half of a dozen state wide I am here with two representatives from the Oakland County area. Oakland is the county just North of Wayne County where I live. We are starting to make headway in this state. Wish us luck on the passing of these bills.

The State of New York already has a moratorium on hydraulic fracturing and after our progress in the County of Wayne here in Michigan, we have set our sites on the State Legislature. On October 17th I sent e-mails to the Chair of the Natural Gas Subcommittee of the Energy of the Energy and Technology Committee in our House of Representatives as well as my State Representative and the State Representative from the area where I have my 20 acres because there is a site in his district. I received no response. I then followed up the e-mails with a reminder and asking them their thoughts. However, this time I copied every member of the Energy and Technology committee. I received a response from the Chairman of the Committee telling him he would have the chair of the subcommittee respond to me at length. Although he believes the meetings have been concluded. Stay tuned, I am sure there is more to come.

Kudos should go out to The Wayne County Board of Commissioners because they have sent a clear message to Congress, The United States Senate and the Michigan State Legislator today by passing a resolution to support a ban on the natural gas extraction method known as Hydraulic Fracturing. It is imperative that this issue be brought to the forefront with respect to environmental concerns. Present at the meeting were interests from the Congress as well as the State Legislator. This plea need not fall on deaf ears. The media must also take up the mantle of awareness and do some investigative research on their on not just take the word of conscientious environmental activist.

Here is a copy of the e-mail from my county commissioner Diane Webb: Hi Jim, I apologize that about the delay on the Resolution. Based on the information and data that you have provided, I made the request to our Commission Counsel and Communications Dept. to draft the proposed legislation opposing the practice of Hydraulic Fracturing. I already know I have a co-sponsor in Commissioner Killeen, and am confident that we will be able to get the support of the Board. Unfortunately, we all have been buried in the budget process for the several weeks.The Good News is we passed a balanced budget today. I have already met with our Commission Counsel and our Communication Specialist and provided your information for their review. Our Attorney, didn't see an legal conflicts, or risks in my request. Our writers are currently working on a first draft, then our attorney and I will review it and give it back to me for my approval. I will contact you then--to discuss. Once we approve of it, I will canvass my colleagues for their support of it, and am looking to have it on the Full Board agenda on either September 15th, or 22nd. Here is an excellent scenario for the fall of 2012. Mitt Romney wins the GOP nomination in a heated 3-way battle with Tea Party Favorites Rick Perry and Michelle Bachman. Perry and Bachman pledge to create their own ticket with Perry at the head literally splitting the GOP in two. That opens the door for the Justice League to step in take control of Congress and the Whitehouse once again.
