There is also the NorthEast transportation site that is not getting much attention. If you are concerned about transportation, please be sure to check it out. PLUS each of the Northeast states has its own site. WOW! http://connect.sierraclub.org/Team/NorthEast_Regional__Committee Blossom

I think we should rename this "Hi, Let's Get Started". Have a link to it (saying that name) on the Home Page. Home Page should be for those already in the network, although it will show the newbies a snapshot of what's happening. A prominent HLGS button will capture the newcomes. The content, then should not be to show the newcomer what is here, but to ask them what they are looking for and to direct them there. So it should say at the top "What Do You Want to Do", and then have buttons below for various things. " What Are Teams Doing About: water, air, green buildings, healthy communities, campus, arctic, protect wilderness, etc." Another section should say "Set Up My Profile", another "Find Activists Near Me" etc., etc. A final button could say "Contact a Guide".

Jenny, I agree that the home page should serve this function and I intend to do as much as possible with the tiles and the other stuff. But the visitor center will allow for more of that. If we decide it's unnecessary, we can get rid of it.

Setting a tone and making it clear what people can do right out of the gate is key for any kind of welcome group or visitor center. I've been thinking over dinner, and just worry a bit that our home page should probably be the Visitor Center, instead of another team. That page isn't as flexible as this one... but perhaps using the get involved and the get things done, along with the hero spot, could do the same as what you're doing here?
