We put together this list of Activist Network project grants for the Club Finance Committee meeting this week, and wanted to share it with the community. It's pasted below and you can also download it as a pdf.

Activist Network — Projects Grants to Teams in 2011

The Activist Network Support Team awarded $185,565* in project grants to teams in 2011.

Borderlands Team: Video Screenings and Community Meetings
$9,000 for outreach campaign and road show, including video screenings of Wild vs. Wall, to educate public about border walls’ environmental impact. $5,000 for organizing event/lobby day and $5,000 for targeted ad campaign and outreach opposing Bishop bill (HR 1505).
California/Nevada Wilderness Team: Words of the Wild
$1,500 for printing and mailing newsletter in support of California/Nevada wilderness and supporting migration to email and web outreach.
Clean Air Team: Challenging Gold Mine Emissions
$9.000 to support possible litigation challenging EPA’s failure to adhere to Clean Air Act in regards to gold mine emissions.
Climate Action Leadership Team: Building Climate-Friendly Communities
$9,000 to build on existing Cool Cities programs on the San Francisco peninsula to work for more walkable, bikeable transit-accessible neighborhoods, and energy efficiency upgrades to buildings.
Forest Certification Team: Good Wood
$6,950 to promoting credible forest certification systems and campaigning within U.S. Green Building Council to keep its certified wood standards high.
Grazing Team: Building Support for Rural Economic Vitalization Act
$8,275 for educational and lobby project building support for legislation that would compensate ranchers for voluntarily retiring their grazing permits.
Marine Team: Blue Vision Summit/National Ocean Policy/Aquaculture
$9,000 to bring new and veteran ocean activists to Washington, D.C. for Blue Vision Summit, team meeting, and lobby day. $9,000 to organize regional Club events in conjunction with National Ocean Policy planning sessions. $5,000 to develop education and outreach program in support of sustainable aquaculture.
Mattawoman Creek: Protect Rivers and Streams Through Smart Growth
$9,000 to enforce the Clean Water Act to protect the Mattawoman Creek and Chesapeake Bay.
Natural Gas Education and Outreach Project: Split Estate House Parties
$4,000 for film screening/house parties/educational workshops on natural gas issues in Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico, and recruiting prospective leaders in each community.
Missouri River Team: Responsible Management
$9,000 to engage Club members and allies in the public debate surrounding Senate-sponsored review of Missouri River management, to advocate for wildlife and advantages of non-structural flood-control measures.
Nuclear Issues Team: 2012 Assemby
$9,000 for national conference to build a stronger national anti-nuclear movement — emulating coal campaign and targeting plants up for relicensing and/or proposed new ones and proposing clean energy alternatives.
Recreation Issues Team: Ground-Truthing
$900 to protect specific national forest sites from motorized impacts by verifying or refuting information about trails through on-the-ground field investigations.
Resilient Habitats Lobby Project 2011
$24,000 for spring and fall lobby weeks on public lands issues, a joint project of the Wildlands and the Wildlife & Endangered Species teams.
Restore Chesapeake Bay Team: Limit Nutrient Runoff
$9,000 to advocate for strong watershed implementation plan, putting the bay on a “pollution diet” that limits nutrient runoff.
Save the Baylands Team: Stop Cargill Saltworks
$5,500 to support community events to build opposition to a development that on retired salt ponds in San Francisco Bay.
Toxics Team: Reduce Exposure to Persistent Bio-Accumulative Toxins
$6,500 to reduce exposure to PBTs, such as mercury, though public education and by defending against industry attempts to undermine existing rules.
Trade, Human Rights, and Environment Team: Investor Rights Education
$8,900 to educate the public on how global trade agreements limit democracy by giving corporations rights not available under national laws.
Utah Wilderness Team: Build Support for Red Rock Wilderness Act
$5,000 for outreach, volunteer recruitment, and lobbying to build congressional support for legislation that would secure protection for 9.5 million acres of federal public wild land in Utah.
Wildlands Team: Organizing Event in Salt Lake City
$5,000 to support planning meeting to develop strategic plan for 2012, and how to engage and train new activists.
Wildlife & Endangered Species Team: Organizing Event
$4,000 to support planning meeting to develop strategic plan for 2012, and recruit dedicated wildlife activists/lobbyists in 10 states.
Zero Waste Team: Creating Zero Waste Advocates at Local Level
$9,000 to organize Zero Waste and Extended Producer Responsibility seminars targeted to local environmental justice, global warming, and recycling activists.

*In addition to the grants awarded in 2011, $33,800 in project grants were continued from 2010.
